One of Sigma Chi’s greatest virtues is being able to give back to the community. A way this is done is by taking part in philanthropy. The main goal of philanthropy is to organize initiatives, for the public good, while focusing on quality of life. Here at the Theta Iota chapter of Sigma Chi at Saint Louis University, we bring our greatest effort to better our society in Saint Louis. In 2012, the Sigma Chi Fraternity officially designated the Huntsman Cancer Foundation as our preferred philanthropic partner. For philanthropy, every year, Sigma Chi members across the world work together to raise money for cancer research, ultimately striving towards a cure. For the Theta Iota chapter here at SLU, our main event is Derby Days which consists of a week long assortment of events and fundraisers, in an effort to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Previous fundraising events we have created in the past include: a field day in which sororities at SLU compete in numerous athletic events, a dunk tank on a campus, and tables selling various types of foods as well as Sigma Chi merchandise.
Philanthropy has always been an integral part of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and every year, we are becoming closer and closer to being the generation to end cancer.
Please contact our Philanthropy Chairman if you'd like to get involved with Derby Days and/or raising money for Huntsman. Below is the our Theta Iota unique link to our Fall 23'-Spring 24' Huntsman donation page!
